Urban Duckies
...Is my biggest project. Since 2023, more than 130 Urban Duckies have been created. In addition to the digital illustrations, the project also includes paintings and linocuts, which you can all find here.
„BIG STEPPER“ Linocut
For my Art Market, I created bags featuring linocut designs. I started by designing the artwork in Procreate, focusing on the use of negative space. The key was to incorporate more white space, which meant more cutting out. To achieve this, I implimented a double outline. This technique not only makes the character stand out more but also inverts the background space, enhancing the nightlife aesthetic perfectly.
When printing on fabrics, it’s essential to use fabric-ready paint and iron each piece individually. I took on this task myself, and although it was quite time-consuming, I am thrilled with the final result.
„King Of This City“ Painted Version
I desired to create a painting of one of my favorite Duckies to display the love for my city at home. After completing my bachelor’s degree, I no longer painted with acrylics as frequently, as I typically work with watercolor and colored pencil, so this was also a nice challenge for me.
Upon completing the digital piece, I started working on the painted version. For the background, I simply diluted the acrylics with water. Subsequently, I sketched out the subject using a light-blue watercolor pencil. I then painted the larger shapes with acrylics, ensuring that no water was used to achieve a flat appearance, similar to the original. To finalize the piece, I employed acrylic markers to draw the outlines and place all the individual halftone dots.
